Delete your account & data

This page explains, on its own, how to request deletion of your Prayvail account and what happens to your data when you do. This applies whether or not you currently have the app installed.

1Delete it yourself, in the app

  1. Open Prayvail and log in to the account you want deleted.
  2. Go to your account page. Tap the profile icon in the bottom navigation.
  3. Open the Danger Zone near the bottom of the account page, then tap Delete Account.
  4. Enter your password to confirm. This check exists so no one else can delete your account for you.
  5. Tap Delete Forever. Your account and the data listed below are deleted immediately. There is no undo.

2Can’t log in?

If you’ve uninstalled the app, forgotten your password, or otherwise can’t sign in, email us from the address associated with your account and we will verify and delete it for you.

3What gets deleted, and what doesn’t

Deleting your account removes the following immediately. Nothing here is queued or delayed:

DataWhat happens
Your account itself (email, sign-in credentials) Deleted
Your profile (name, notification preferences) Deleted
Journal entries and reflections Deleted
Daily path progress and session history Deleted
Streak and completion history Deleted
Subscription / purchase records Kept by Apple / Google
On subscriptions: if you support Prayvail through a paid subscription, that purchase is billed and recorded by the App Store or Google Play, not by us. We only ever see whether it's active. Deleting your Prayvail account does not cancel a subscription or refund a payment; manage or cancel it directly in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Apple and Google retain their own transaction records under their own retention policies, independent of anything we do.
On backups: we do not keep a separate copy of your data once it's deleted. Our cloud infrastructure providers may retain residual copies in secure, encrypted operational backups for a limited period, as is standard practice for any cloud-hosted service, before those backups are naturally cycled out. This is not a deliberate retention of your data by us, and none of it remains accessible or in use.
